About the Composer

From quaint Sebring, Ohio, Kyle Youmans was drawn to music at a very young age. Through listening to his favorite artists on cassettes and CDs, he gained a love for the art and knew early on that it would be a part of his life as a whole. Kyle attended Westminster College in Pennsylvania and received his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education with a Track in Composition in 2021. He received his Master of Music in Music Composition degree from SUNY Fredonia in 2023. Kyle plans to eventually continue his studies and complete a doctorate in music composition before finding a career in the field. In a more perfect world, he would be writing music every day, all day.

Kyle enjoys listening to and is influenced by the works of Debussy, Shostakovich and other early modern composers. More contemporary composers, specifically of band repertoire, are also regularly included in his listening. He also takes heavy influence from modern video game scoring, such as the soundtracks from Undertale, Pokémon, and many others! In the winter of 2016, shortly following the release of Undertale, Kyle teamed up with other like-minded musicians to create a project known as the Undertale Online Orchestra, which set out to perform arrangements of each song from the game using live instruments, but in a virtual medium.

Kyle works for Composiflex Inc., an Advanced Composite manufacturer in Erie, PA.
